Dubai: The ICC board has recommended that former South Africa wicketkeeper David Richardson replace outgoing chief executive Haroon Lorgat. Richardson has been the general manager of cricket for the the International Cricket Council for the past decade. He represented South Africa in 42 Tests and 122 one-day internationals.

He is expected to be formally appointed when the ICC holds its annual conference in Malaysia next month. The 52-year-old Richardson will become the fourth ICC chief executive, following David Richards, Malcolm Speed and Lorgat, whose four-year term ends on June 30.

Richardson said, "I am delighted with this opportunity and thank the ICC board for their approval."
