Johannesburg: South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman AB de Villiers says he has recovered from surgery for a broken left hand and is in content_cnion for the first Test against Australia next week.
De Villiers will play for provincial team Nashua Titans this weekend and said on Thursday "if I get through this game I will be ready for the first Test match."
De Villiers adds "the specialist was very happy and I'm ready to go."
De Villiers broke a bone in his left hand during the Champions League in September.
South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosajee says De Villiers would not keep wicket for the Titans "as a risk reduction measure."
De Villiers, South Africa's new one-day and Twenty20 captain, missed the limited-overs series against Australia after breaking a bone in his left hand at the Champions League in India in September.
