New Delhi: Gujarat hammered Delhi by an innings and 35 runs while Baroda wrapped up an eight wicket win over Madhya Pradesh on the final day of the Elite Division matches played in the Ranji Trophy on Sunday.
Resuming on their overnight score of 48/2, last Year's runners-up Baroda took just eight balls to chase down their winning target of 54 runs.
The star performer for Baroda was medium pacer Irfan Pathan, who took eight wickets in the match including a fifer in Madhya Pradesh's second innings.
At Valsad, Delhi were not able to put up much resistance after starting the day on 170 for five, folding up for 252 after following on in the second innings. The visitors had made 233 in the first innings after Gujarat posted a mammoth 520 runs.
The match between Mumbai and Rajasthan ended in a draw with the hosts amassing 625 in reply to the 530 posted by the defending champions. Rajasthan were 70 for 2 when play was called off on the fourth day.
Mumbai, with one win in two matches, are second in Group A while Rajasthan are fifth with two points from as many draws.
In Chennai, Tamil Nadu fell short of an outright victory by a mere five runs and came away with three points from their drawn match against Haryana.
Requiring 146 for victory in 13 overs after dismissing Haryana for 200 in their second innings, Tamil Nadu made 141/8 at the end of the day's play.
It was touch-and-go for Tamil Nadu as Haryana were all out at the end of the 75th over and left the hosts requiring only 13 of the 15 mandatory overs to reach the victory target.
