London: England have released, temporarily, both Jonathan Bairstow and Samit Patel from their one-day squad for the series with Australia so the duo can play Twenty20 cricket for their counties on Friday.
Allrounder Patel will feature for Nottinghamshire in their match at home to Durham, while batsman Bairstow returns to his native Yorkshire for their clash with arch-rivals Lancashire at Headingley.
Bairstow, Patel and fast bowler Jade Dernbach were the three players in England's squad omitted from the final XI to face Australia in the first one-day international at Lord's here on Friday.
Bairstow and Patel are due to report back to London on Saturday with the teams travelling across London for the second one-dayer at The Oval on Sunday.
