Mirpur: Dhaka Gladiators won their maiden BPL match and it was easy against Sylhet Royals, with seven wickets and ten balls to go on Monday.
For the Gladiators, their skipper Mashrafe Mortaza took 2 for 22 to dismiss the Royals for only 124. The Royals batsmen got off to starts but were unable to convert them into big ones. Naeem Islam scored 30 off 24 balls to finish as Royals top scorer.
The Royals got rid of Ahzar Mahmood (9) early but failed to get a second breakthrough quickly. The key partnership was for the second wicket between Imran Nazir and Anamul Haque, who added 46 runs and later Haque added 43 more with Mohammad Ashraful.
Haque was the top scorer with 48 off 39 balls for the Gladiators, but was unable to see through his team till the end. However, the experienced Mohammad Ashraful did the needful at the end.
