London: South Africa captain Graeme Smith is not expected to miss the second Test against England at Headingly next Thursday, despite flying home for the birth of his daughter.
Smith tweeted on Wednesday, "Our daughter, Cadence Christine Smith was born this morning, 3,35kg mother and daughter doing well. thx for all kind wishes that was amazing."
He returned to be with his wife Morgan on Monday, missing South Africa's two-day match against Worcestershire. Cricket South Africa confirmed it expects Smith to return in time for the preparations for the second Test on Monday.
Last week, Smith became only the seventh batsman in cricket history to score a century in his 100th Test as his side beat England by an innings and 12 runs at The Oval.
