Canterburry: Senior offspinner Harbhajan Singh marked his recall to the national side with figures of 3 for 35 for his side Essex in a winning cause against Kent, in a County Championship match here on Friday.
This is by far Harbhajan's best figures in this county season. Along with Maurice Chambers (4 for 31) and Graham Napier (3 for 26), Harbhajan demolished Kent in their second innings for 101 thereby setting a platform for a seven-wicket victory.
Harbahajan had also got a wicket in the first innings. In the second innings, he trapped opener Sam Northeast (3) leg before. He then removed another top-order batsman Alex Blake (18) caught by Chambers. His final victim was former England wicketkeeper Gerraint Jones (13) who was caught by Ryan ten Doeschate.
Requiring 55 to win, Essex knocked off the runs in 18.3 overs.
