London: Harbhajan Singh's barren spell for his county side Essex continued as the veteran offspinner went wicketless in 28 overs that he sent down against Hampshire on the first day of their Division Two County Championship match at the County ground in Chelmsford on Thursday.
Although Essex captain Mark Pettini used him in all three sessions but the offspinner – who has taken 406 wickets in 98 Tests – couldn't breach through the defences of Neil McKenzie (134 batting, 270 balls, 13x4) and Sean Ervine (55, 93 balls, 7x4).
Harbhajan had figures of 28-3-73-0 as Hampshire were comfortably placed at 303 for 6 after opting to bat.
