New Delhi: Brushing aside comments in the media that Australia have beaten India only because of their home advantage and they will beat the Aussies and other teams when they visit India in a few months' time, BCCI president N Srinivasan said on Monday that he never made any such statement.
"I would like to make it clear that I have not made these statements to any mediaperson or media organisation. The claims that I have done so are baseless and totally false," Srinivasan said in a BCCI media release.
On Sunday, some sections of Indian media had claimed Srinivasan boldly declaring that Australia were only winning because of home advantage, and would lose in India.
"England won 4-0 in England (in a test series against India). They came here within a month or two and they lost 5-0 (in one-dayers). After our loss to England, I had said that we will beat them when they visit India," Srinivasan was quoted as saying.
"Next New Zealand is coming to India and it will be followed by England and Australia. We will beat these three teams on our own soil. They cannot beat us here, and we will feel very happy," he allegedly had said.
India have lost the four-match series 3-0 after losing the Perth Test, with the last match to be played in Adelaide from January 24.
