Islamabad: Imran Farhat will replace injured opening batsman Taufeeq Umar for the Test series in South Africa, the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Wednesday.
Umar injured his shin during a practice session last week and did not participate in the four-day warmup match at East London.
The PCB says in a statement that doctors have advised Umar to rest for four weeks and he "will return back to Pakistan."

Umar injured his shin during a practice session last week and did not participate in the four-day warmup match.
The left-handed Farhat played his last Test against England at Lord's in 2010. He has scored 2,327 runs in 39 Test matches, including a career-best 128 against South Africa at Faisalabad in 2003.
The first Test begins Friday in Johannesburg.
