A skillfull Indian team put up an all-round show to lift the Under-23 Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Emerging Teams Cup as they overwhelmed Pakistan by 9 wickets at the Kallang Ground in Singapore on Sunday.
Pakistan, who chose to bat, were bundled out for a paltry 159 thanks to Baba Aparajith's 3 for 27 in a 10-over spell, to which the Pakistanis had no answer. Suryakumar Yadav and Sandeep Sharma too played their part picking up two wickets each.
Pakistan lost nine wickets with just 107 on the board and could go past 150 only after the last pair added 52 runs to the total.
Lokesh Rahul starred with the bat scoring 93 not out to help India overhaul Pakistan's paltry 159 with more than 16 overs to spare.
India faced no challenge whatsoever in chasing the small target, reaching there in 33.4 overs - courtesey Lokesh Rahul and Manprit Juneja's heroics. The contest turned out to be a one-sided affair as India achieved the target of 160 in just 33.4 overs.
Rahul (93) led the Indian chase and missed out on a well-deserved century by just three runs. His partnership with Juneja (51) for the second wicket accounted for 132 runs after Unmukt Chand was dismissed for 15 by Hasan Raza.
However, Chand's dismissal did not create any further panic as Rahul and Juneja allowed the Indian side to go past the 100-mark in only the 23rd over. Both batsmen batted well with responsibility and without taking too much risks.
Rahul's innings comprised of 11 boundaries and a six that he hit off Raza in the 32nd over before Juneja smashed one into the stands towards deep midwicket as India celebrated their ACC title win.
