Mumbai: The Indian squad for the first Test against England will be named by the newly-formed selection committee on November 5, the BCCI confirmed on Monday. The selectors will meet a week from today at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai to pick the squad for the Ahmedabad Test starting November 15.
Test hopefuls Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane and Manoj Tiwary are all part of the India A squad picked to play against the touring English side in Mumbai from October 30 to November 1. Additionally, a number of India’s leading Test players are slated to play the first round of Ranji Trophy matches starting November 2. These include Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli and Pragyan Ojha, while players such as Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma are also due to play in the tournament.
The new selection panel which was unveiled at the BCCI’s 83rd AGM last month is headed by Sandeep Patil and features Vikram Rathour (North Zone), Roger Binny (South Zone), Saba Karim (East Zone) and Rajinder Hans (Central Zone).
