Their morale dented after losing the opener, India would be desperate to end their disastrous tour on a positive note when they take on a sprightly New Zealand in the second and final Test starting on Friday.

The visitors lost the Auckland Test by 40 runs and had previously surrendered the five-match ODI series by an embarrassing margin of 0-4. At Basin Reserve then, Mahendra Singh Dhoni & Co. would be desperate enough to put in a last-gasp salvaging effort.

Commentary (India 2nd Innings)

It's been a brilliant summer for New Zealand. They broke a lot of records in the last couple of months. They will be pretty happy with that. That's it from us as well. Join us again for further games. Until then, good bye and take care!!!

Indian captain - MS Dhoni. He starts off appreciating New Zealand needs to be appreciated first up, how the Kiwis batted throughout. He says India bowled in the right areas early on and in the second innings as well they got off to a good start. Credits his bowlers for giving out their best even after staying in the field for such a long time. He says they are disappointed with the way ODIs went but it was a good exposure in Tests. Adds the bowling department did well and they proved so in a couple of occasions. He is happy overall and mentions they have a good talented side. Loves playing in New Zealand, loves the atmosphere here. Says the tracks are tough at times with the bounce. Finishes with saying overall it was a good performance and loved the venue and it was really good to witness Brendon McCullum's knock. Mentions from a cricket fan's perspective it was good to watch him bat.

Brendon McCullum is named Man of the Match. He is happy and tired after the performance. Says he is pretty relieved now and happy with the win in the ODIs and in Tests against India. Adds it's satisfying with the performance. He is a bit embarrased to go past Martin Crowe's record. Thanks the fans for supporting throughout. Credits his teammates for their performance. He says it means a lot to do well in tricky situations and adds it would have been pretty shamefull if they had ended a beautiful summer with a loss. Says they are improved in the last few days. He is pretty happy with the series win and happy with the young guys coming in and how they have performed so far. Credits his teammates' energy put in throughout the summer. Thanks the crowd once again for the support.

Once again special mentions to Brendon McCullum. Scoring a triple ton is never easy but what was more important was the situation he played in. Came out to bat when New Zealand were struggling. Don't forget he wasn't 100% fit. He had a shoulder problem and was in pain throughout. He took painkillers at regular intervals. After all this hard work he became the first Kiwi player to score a triple ton. Shows how hard work pays off.

This match will definitely go down in history as one of the best comebacks ever. Lots of positives for New Zealand in this series and the same doesn't really go for India. Their overseas record has gone bad to worse. India will go back home without winning a single game on the tour.

Kiwi skipper Brendon McCullum scored a spectacular triple ton. Indian bowlers went for plenty of runs and failed to pick wickets. And eventually New Zealand got a huge lead. India were left chasing 435 runs in two-odd sessions. They managed 166/3 and there were the handshakes.

What a Test match! You got to love Test cricket! In the first couple of days India played some superb cricket and it looked like the match might end by Tea on day 3 and India would end their overseas winless streak. But then as they say, cricket's a game with glorious uncertainties. Brendon McCullum and BJ Watling shared a record partnership between them and slowly took the game away from New Zealand. And that partnership brought the Kiws as favourites to win.
