New Delhi: Irfan Pathan and Praveen Kumar's hopes of impressing the selectors to earn a recall into the senior Indian team suffered a setback on Saturday when the two swing bowlers were ruled out of India A squad that will take on the visiting West Indies a team in a one-day series starting Sunday.
Pathan and Kumar were recalled to the squad which will be led by Yuvraj Singh, but injury will now in all probability force the two pacers to return to the National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation; however, the press release circulated by the BCCI did not mention the nature of their injury. They will be replaced by Punjab medium-pacer Siddarth Kaul and the experienced Karnataka seamer Vinay Kumar in the squad.
"Praveen Kumar and Irfan Pathan have been ruled out of the India A team for the one-day games against West Indies A due to injuries. They have been replaced in the squad by Siddharth Kaul and Vinay Kumar, respectively," the BCCI release said.
The release further named V Jagadeesh as an addition to the India A's four-day squad for the second and third match against the West Indians.
