Johannesburg: South Africa has called up allrounder Ryan McLaren as cover for injured pair Jacques Kallis and Vernon Philander, who are both doubts for the crucial third Test against Australia.
The visitors will likely have to win that final match to save the series with Australia in a commanding position heading into the final day of the second Test in Adelaide.
Cricket South Africa says McLaren, who has played just one test in 2010, will leave for Australia on Monday.

South Africa has called up allrounder Ryan McLaren as cover for injured pair Jacques Kallis and Vernon Philander.
The injury-hit Proteas lost seam bowler Philander just before the start of the Adelaide Test with back spasms. Allrounder Kallis injured a hamstring while bowling.
Kallis almost certainly will be needed to bat in Adelaide on Monday, possibly aggravating his injury further ahead of the Perth Test, which starts on Friday.
