Delhi Daredevils innings:

16th over: 148 for 2. Rahul Sharma continues and Sehwag finishes it in some style, Hits the fifth ball for four and then follows it up with maximum over the long on fence. Sehwag leads from the front in Delhi's 8 wicket win. Sehwag remains unbeaten on 87 from 48 balls.

15th over: 134 for 2. Taylor and Sehwag picks up four from Kartik's fourth over. Murali Kartik finishes with the figures of 0 for 26.

IPL 5, Match 31: as it happened

Virender Sehwag scored an unbeaten 87 while chasing 147 to win as Delhi Daredevils thrashed Pune Warriors India by 8 wickets.

14th over: 130 for 2. Sehwag is in no mood to slow down as he hits Rahul Sharma for another boundary over the point. DD need 17 from 6 overs.

13th over: 124 for 2. Murali Kartik is back into the attack and Sehwag hits him for another boundary to mid wicket. Nine runs comes from the over as Delhi close in on a win.

12th over: 115 for 2. Finally a wicket for Pune Warriors India. KP goes for the slog sweeps but top edges it and finds Jessy Ryder in the deep. Rahul Sharma gets his man. Four runs and a wicket comes from the over.

11th over: 111 for 1. Luke Wright is back into the attack and batsmen in the middle picks up another twelve from the over. After keeping them down to six off the five balls, Sehwag smashes him for the maximum to backward square leg. This is too easy for Delhi at the moment.

10th over: 99 for 1. Kartik continues and batsmen are finding the boundaries with ease. After giving four off the first ball, Sehwag dances down the ground and hits him for four straight down the ground.

9th over: 90 for 1. Rahul Sharma, right-arm legspinner, comes into the attack and bowls a bad over f irst up. Gives away four leg byes and then KP hits him for a huge six over to long on boundary to make it thirteen from the over.

8th over: 77 for 1. Murali Kartik, left-arm spin, comes into the attack and bowls a neat and tidy over. Give away just four off it.

7th over: 73 for 1. Sourav Ganguly, right-arm medium, comes into the attack and Sehwag smashes him for four to deep backward point and then follows it up with another beautiful shot that produces two and hits him for another four off the last ball between midwicket and long on.

6th over: 61 for 1. Sehwag is in fine form as he smashes Nehre for four through point off the first ball. Meanwhile, Pietersen hits him straight down the ground for another four off the fifth ball and then follows it up with a six over the long-on. Great stuff by Delhi.

5th over: 46 for 1. Luke Wright, right-arm medium, comes into the attack and Sehwag hits him for a beautiful leg glance that produces a boundary and then follows it up with a six over the long-on boundary. Delhi is off to a fantastic start.

4th over: 34 for 1. Sehwag hops in his crease and clips Nehra off his pads to deep mid-wicket for a boundary off the first ball and then follows it up with a two. And another inside edge off the last ball goes for a boundary through the fine-leg region. Twelve runs come off the over.

3rd over: 22 for 1. This is ridiculous running in the middle. Confusion leads to the run out of Mahela Jayawardene. Meanwhile, Delhi pick seven runs from the over that includes a boundary to long-on by Jayawardene.

2nd over: 15 for 0. Ashish Nehra shares the new ball for Pune Warriors India and Delhi picks up another seven from the over. After keeping four balls nice and tight, he bowls a loosener and Mahela works it for four through vacan fine leg boundary.

1st over: 8 for 0. Mahela Jayawardene and Virender Sehwag are at the crease for Delhi. Alfonso Thomas will open the attack for Pune. Openers give Delhi a solid start as eight runs come from the over that includes a boundary to Jayawardene to the fine leg region.

Pune Warriors innings:

20th over: 146 for 2. Four byes off the first ball and a brilliant shot off the fifth through the backward point for another boundary and a two off the last ball makes it 14 from the over. Excellent batting by Pune Warriors after losing two wickets in two overs.

19th over: 132 for 2. Umesh Yadav continues and Pune picks up nine from the over. Uthappa's four off the fifth ball and then two off the last ball helps Pune to get nine from it.

18th over: 123 for 2. Morne Morkel comes back into the attack and Uthappa has finally cut loose as he hits him for two successive boundaries. First one an inside edge between legs for four and then pulls a short ball for four through long-on and follows it with a two to bring up his fifty.

17th over: 110 for 2. Umesh Yadav comes into the attack and Manish Pandey hits him for two back-to-back boundaries. After giving two singles from the two ball, Pandey smacks the third ball over the midwicket for four and then slices the fourth one for four through third-man.

16th over: 99 for 2. Pawan Negi is back into the attack and he drops another chance. Ordinary stuff by Delhi on the field. But a good over in the end as just four comes off it.

15th over: 95 for 2. Irfan Pathan is back into the attack and gives from the over. Meanwhile, Manish Pandey brings up his fifty in the process off just 40 balls and then smashes the last ball for a six between midwicket and long on.

14th over: 81 for 2. Shahbaz Nadeem continues and another chance goes begging, Nadeem drops Manish Pandey off his own bowling and Uthappa hits him for a boundary off the last ball.

13th over: 74 for 2. Umesh Yadav is back into the attack and Pandey welcomes him with a boundary to the third-man and follows it up with a huge six over the long-off from the fourth delivery. Pandey moves to 43.

12th over: 61 for 2. Shahbaz Nadeem continues. Finally a boundary for Pune. Pandey slaps the fifth delivery past the bowlers head to make it eight from the over.

11th over: 53 for 2. Another brilliant over by Negi. After bowling three dot balls, he gives away just three singles from the last three balls. Great stuff by the spinners.

10th over: 50 for 2. Shahbaz Nadeem continues, and he restricts the batsmen to just four from the over. Pressure is building on Pune as they are not able to break the shackles.

9th over: 46 for 2. Pawan Negi continues and is unfortunate as Kevin Pietersen drop a regulation catch at long-on. Manish Pandey gets a life and it can sound trouble for Delhi as he can be dangerous later on. Just for from the over.

8th over: 42 for 2. Spin from both the ends. Shahbaz Nadeem, left-arm spin, comes into the attack and bowls a nice and tight over. Keeps the batsmen down to just three from the over.

7th over: 39 for 2. Pawan Negi, left-arm orthodox, comes into the attack and bowls an expensive over. Uthappa sets the tone as he hits him for two back-to-back boundaries. One through the extra cover region and second one through deep point. Another good over for Pune.

6th over: 28 for 2. Morne Morkel is back into the attack and Pandey smashes him for a six over the long-off boundary off the very first ball and then the duo takes for single off the remaining five deliveries. A good over for Pune.

5th over: 18 for 2. Irfan Pathan continues and keeps it nice and tight. Keeps the batsmen down to just for singles off this over. Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey are in the middle.

4th over: 14 for 2. Umesh Yadav, right-arm pacer, comes into the attack and gives away seven runs off his first over. After keeping the batsmen down to just three from four deliveries, he bowls a loosener, that Manish Pandey smashes for four through covers.

3rd over: 7 for 2. Manish Pandey finally hits the first boundary of the match. He pulls Pathan's delivery outside the off-stump over the mid-on to make it five from the over. It's a good start for Delhi bowlers.

2nd over: 2 for 2. This is terrific stuff by Delhi bowlers. Morne Morkel gets rid off Pune's skipper Sourav Ganguly this time. Ganguly makes room and looks to slice it over backward point, the ball goes flying in the air straight down the throat of Shahbaz Nadeem at the third-man.

3.30 p.m. Pune Warriors skipper Sourav Ganguly wins the toss and elects to bat in the 31st match of the Indian Premier League against Delhi Daredevils on Tuesday at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune.

Luke Wright comes in for Angelo Mathews for Pune Warriors India, while Delhi Daredevils field an unchanged side.
