IPL 6: Bangalore, Hyderabad look to keep up the momentum

Apr 07, 2013 at 12:13am IST

After a dream start to their IPL 6 campaign this season where they beat Pune Warriors India in the opening encounter, Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore in the seventh match on Sunday at the Chinnaswamy stadiun in Bangalore.

RCB's campaign too started on a bright note after they defeated Mumbai Indians in their opening match in a last-ball thriller. Riding high on Chris Gayle's 92, Bangalore posted a healthy total despite the middle order failing to make an impact. Gayle has been the biggest reason of RCB's success in the last two seasons. However, Tillakratane Dilhan and Kohli will hope to make amends after their failure against Mumbai Indians.

Most likely the allrounder Daniel Christan, who failed with the ball last time around, will make way for another Australian in Andrew McDonald or Moises Henriques. Vinay Kumar and Jaidev Unadkat are likely to share the new ball once again. Vinay bowled the last crucial over and won it for RCB and would be high on confidence. Muttiah Muralitharan will be once again the spin spearhead, ably supported by Murali Kartik.

IPL 6: Bangalore, Hyderabad look to keep up the momentum

After a dream start to IPL 6, Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday.

On the other hand, debutants in this year's IPL, Hyderabad seem to be the underdogs with their batting being the weak link. Hyderabad are surely missing the services of Shikhar Dhawan and JP Duminy due to injury and Akshath Reddy and Ravi Teja are still finding their feet. Parthiv Patel will be once again key in the opening overs along with skipper Kumar Sangakkara. Thisara Perera with his useful contribution against Pune proved his signing noteworthy. Cameron White will hope to find form on Sunday in order to provide stability to the middle order.

The bowling department is led by the in-form Dale Steyn who bowled well and picked up three wickets to help Hyderabad defend a total of 126. Amit Mishra was another bowler who kept the Pune batsmen guessing with his flight and trajectory. Ashish Reddy and Ishant Sharma were the other bolwers who kept it nice and tight and gave nothing away.
