New Delhi: The Indian Premier League, already neck deep in controversy with developments involving the Kochi team and former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, was dealt another body blow on Wednesday with reports of two Chota Rajan gang members being arrested for the murder of Chote Miya, an alleged bookie.
Apparently, Chote Miya had invested five crore rupees in IPL season 2 in which he incurred losses and asked another underworld member Chota Shakeel to intervene.
The news about the following turn of events reportedly did not go down too well with Chota Rajan and two hitmen were hired to carry out the killing.
This is not the first time that the underworld has showed up its ugly head in the world of cricket.
During the spat involving Modi and former Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor regarding the issue of the controversial Kochi team, the plot thickened further when Tharoor claimed that he received death threats from the Dawood Ibrahim gang.
