IPL has benefited world cricket: Nannes

Mohali: Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Dirk Nannes feels the high-profile Indian Premier League has been a good learning experience for players from across the countries, and said that the Twenty20 tournament has made a positive impact on world cricket.

"IPL is a good opportunity to talk to other players. As a bowler, I am talking to batsmen. I think IPL is a good learning experience. With people collaborating with each other at various levels, I feel it has improved world cricket over the last few years," Nannes told reporters at the PCA stadium on Thursday on the eve of his team's clash against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on Friday.

Nannes, a veteran of 142 Twenty20s, is yet to get a game in IPL season five, but that has not demoralised him. "It can be frustrating [not getting a game], but you [have] got to come in this tournament with an air of patience. You realise there are so many good players around, so many international players. The tournament is so long, that you will get a game eventually," the 35-year-old left-arm pacer said.

Asked how he keeps himself focused sitting among the reserves, Nannes said, "One would be upset and angry at not getting a game, but that's not what I think about. I stay very positive." His side RCB, meanwhile, have so far won two games out of five, which includes the morale-boosting win against Pune Warriors at home earlier this week. Nannes said with a good side at their disposal, RCB are looking to maintain their consistency in the long tournament.
