New Delhi: Television ratings for the first six games of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season five are 19 per cent down on last year, local media has reported.

The Hindustan Times on Thursday said that Tam Media Research, which is the country's top rating agency, has confirmed an initial lack of interest in the fifth season. Cumulative reach, which is the number of people who watch a program for at least a minute, has gone down by 12 per cent from 101 million last year to 90 million this year.

The fall for this year's IPL, which runs from April 4-May 27, mirrors the decline in Indian crowds last year, blamed on viewer fatigue owing to the preceding World Cup.
