"It was a terrific team performance. They played as a unit right through the tournament and deserved to win," the former India and Mumbai pacer said.
India, powered by captain and opener Unmukt Chand's unbeaten hundred, defeated Australia by six wickets in the final held on Sunday at Townsville. Kuruvilla, who still plays local Kanga League games, credited all the players, the coach (Bharat Arun) and the team's support staff

Junior selection panel chairman Abey Kuruvilla termed the U-19 World Cup triumph as a terrific team performance.
"I will give credit to the entire team, the team's coach and the support staff for this splendid victory," said Kuruvilla, noting that whenever the team was in trouble, there was someone who put his hand up and delivered.
"There was always someone to deliver the goods when the team was under pressure," he said.
Kuruvilla also said that the team was expected to do very well going by its immediate past record in the Under-19 events.
"We won the quadrangular in Australia (also featuring Australia, New Zealand and England), were the joint winners of the U-19 Asia Cup (with Pakistan)," he pointed out.
