New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals head to Mohali to take on the Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday. Both the teams will go into the match with just one win out of four in this edition of Indian Premier League. Both teams will be on a high after winning their last match to put themselves on the points board.
The most rivetting battle of the clash will be the Pathan brothers up against each other. Both brothers are in super form and the all-rounders will be pitted against each other in a mouthwatering game.
Punjab won their last match against Chennai Super Kings in a super over, thanks to thanks to some superb bowling by South African rookie Juan Theron in the death.
But Punjab has failed miserably with bat with only Ravi Bopara doing bulk of scoring. Big names like Yuvraj Singh, Mahela Jayawardene and skipper Kumar Sangakkara have not been able to make a mark. Although Yuvraj played a decent knock against the Super Kings but he is far from being the batsman that he used to be.
With batting department far from being at their best, the Punjab bowlers did an amazingly job against Chennai. Piyush Chawla and Ramesh Powar showed that spinners can be crucial in this format of the game as well. Theron and Irfan Pathan are also coming in the form at the right time and Pathan adds extra zing to the team with his hard hitting batting.
Visitors Rajasthan Royals earned their first victory of this edition of IPL against Kolkata and have had few days to rest before taking Pujnab. The players will be fresh and high on confidence and that could work in favour of Rajasthan.
Rajasthan batsmen have been in poor form with only Yusuf Pathan showing what he is capable of in this format of the game. The Royals middle order has been brittle and has shown little fight. Adam Vogue's inclusion in middle order has been plus point and he may be moved up the order to add solidity.
Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, who earned man of the match in their last match, can be key for Rajasthan against Punjab. Shaun Tait also produced brilliant bowling spell against Kolkata Knight Riders and is hitting form at the right time. The Australian duo of Tait and Warne could be a tricky proposition for the Punjab batsmen.
Both teams started the tourmanement miserably and now have started showing signs of improvement with a win in their kitty. A favourite would be hard to choose as the clash is between two teams in very similar sitautions.
