Javed pays tribute to deceased father

Mumbai: Mumbai A player Javed Khan showed immense courage and heart to play the match against England XI after his father passed away few hours before the match.

Javed was in the hospital til late night on Friday as his father was undergoing an open heart surgery. At around midnight, the 22-year-old allrounder lost his father, Mohammad Jayish Khan. Despite the huge personal loss, he showed up at DY Patil Stadium on Saturday morning to play against visiting England XI.

Raju Pathak, his long-standing coach, told Indian Express that Javed turned for the match to fulfill his father's dream who wanted to see him play against England. "By 5 am, we advised him to play the match. He was crying the whole night and was in a state of shock. But this match against England was a big opportunity for him. His father was keen to see him bowl against England. So he did what his father would have wanted him to do."

Javed put up a sparkling performance by dismissing England's two main batsmen, Jonathan Trott and Jonny Bairstow. Javed kept to himself and didn't tell anything about his father's untimely death to his team-mates. "Javed is in great form and it was very brave of him to come out and play today," said Pathak.
