The way he was batting, Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene looked good to add another fifty to his series tally. Having treated India's pace spearhead Zaheer Khan like a spinner – coolly walking down the crease to smash him through the circle – Jayawardene saw a proper spinner come on and got a bit too cheeky.
In the 12th over, the first over of spin, Jayawardene leaned back to a delivery from Ravindra Jadeja and tried to dab it to third man. It appeared he had totally forgotten that there was a slip positioned. Jayawardene's late cut looked a really fine shot except that he steered it straight to Virender Sehwag, who looked rather surprised as he took the catch in front of his face. Talk about giving away your wicket.
