Dubai: New Zealand's Jeff Crowe became only the third ICC match referee to officiate in 200 One-day internationals when he took field for the second ODI between Sri Lanka and South Africa in Pallekele.

Sri Lanka's Ranjan Madugalle (279) and Briton Chris Broad (245) are the other ICC officials who have appeared in 200 or more ODIs.

"Every milestone is important and this one is special too. But more than that, it is an honour and privilege to be associated with this great sport and to get the opportunity to work together with an excellent and highly professional group of people," Crowe said in an ICC release.

Crowe has also officiated in 65 Tests and 46 Twenty20 Internationals. He represented New Zealand in 39 Tests (six as captain) and 75 ODIs (16 as captain) between 1983 and 1990, in which he scored 1,601 and 1,518 runs, respectively.

He made his debut as a match referee in April 2004 when he officiated the West Indies-England ODI in Georgetown, Guyana.

Crowe said he was looking forward to the World Cup 2015, which will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
