Kolkata: Top officials of the Kolkata Police held a meeting on Tuesday with various stakeholders of the Indian Premier League (IPL) regarding security during the matches to be played at Eden Gardens.
"The first meeting of the IPL-5, was held today (Tuesday) between the representatives of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Cricket Associations of Bengal (CAB) and security officers of the IPL-5. We discussed in detail about the security aspects," said joint commissioner Jawed Shamim.
City police commissioner RK Pachnanda presided the meeting attended by CAB joint secretary Biswarup Dey, IPL-5 security officer RK Das and representatives of KKR.

"This was a preliminary meeting. More meetings and inspections will be followed and detailed security arrangements will be made during the IPL matches. Though IPL-5 will start from April 4, the first match of the KKR will be held at Eden on April 5," said Shamim.
The Eden Garden will host eight league matches during the tournament.
Shamim said the CAB and KKR authorities have been specifically instructed to rectify the problems which were pointed out during the previous IPL matches, but did not elaborate the problems. He assured that all arrangements will be in place before the start of the IPL matches.
He further said that the IPL stake holders have been asked to seek either no-objection certificates from the state environment department or exemption from the Calcutta High Court for using loudspeakers during first few IPL matches, as exams of state Higher Secondary Council will continue till April 17.
