New Delhi: The Feroz Shah Kotla wicket is expected to be slow and will assist spinners during the seven games of the IPL, according to the reading of the pitch after a practice game of the Delhi Daredevils.
The Delhi IPL team played a practice match between Gautam Gambhir XI and Rajat Bhati XI on Friday. Even though the track was a bit slower than the usual pace, close to 300 runs were scored in 40 overs.
"It's a healthy sign. Not a single ball jumped or kept low. This pitch is getting better," former BCCI grounds and pitches committee chairman Venkat Sundaram was reported to have said after the game.
Kotla is expected to be slow and will assist spinners during the IPL.
Reports also said that the pitch used on Friday was one of three wickets being prepared. The Delhi Daredevils will play another practice match on another strip on Monday.
The Daredevils will play their first home game against Mumbai Indians on March 17.
