World T20, Ind vs Pak: As it happened

India innings:

17th over: 129 for 2: Yuvraj Singh nudges down the square-leg for a single to seal for India a convincing 8-wicket win over Pakistan. Kohli stars for India with an unbeaten 78, while for Pakistan Raza Hasan and Shahid Afridi are the successful bowlers. With this much needed win, India stay alive in the tournament with one match in the Super Eight against South Africa still to go.

16th over: 126 for 2: Imran Nazir drops Kohli at midwicket, but the dropped catch not going to affect India. Kohli then scores two scintillating boundaries to take India closer with three runs needed off the last over. 16 runs off this Umar Gul over.

Virat Kohli's unbeaten 78 powered India to a comfortable win over Pakistan in the super Eight.

15th over: 110 for 2: Afridi finishes his four-over spell with figures of 1 for 34. Today all the tossed up deliveries from Afridi are being punished. Fourth ball, Yuvraj slaps a four through long-on with disdain.

14th over: 100 for 2: India reach 100 and are just 29 runs away from a win. Kohli welcomes Ajmal to the crease with a flat six over long-on by stepping out. Nine runs off this over.

13th over: 91 for 2: Runs are coming thick and fast for India and Kohli and Yuvraj are doing it with relative ease. Sixth ball, Hafeez bowls on the pads and Yuvraj sweeps it for a four.

12th over: 84 for 2: Kohli reaches his fifty with style off a boundary. India at the moment are cantering towards a thumping win.

11th over: 77 for2: Sehwag cuts Afridi hard for a boundary, but fails to be patient and lofts straight to long-off where Umar Gul takes a brilliant catch.

10th over: 70 for 1: Yasir Arafat comes on and leaks runs. First ball, Kohli drives through the covers and then follows it up with another thanks to a sloppy effort by the Pakistan fielder. Another good over comes India's way, 11 runs off it.

9th over: 59 for 1: Afridi almost gets the wicket of Kohli, had Pakistan kept a slip. Kohli steps out and gets a thick edge that runs down to the third-man boundary for a four. Eight runs off it.

8th over: 51 for 1: Hafeez gets through Hasan's spell of four overs. Hasan does the job for Pakistan by picking up the first wicket. Six runs off this over.

7th over: 45 for 1: Shahid Afridi comes on and straightaway starts with a quicker delivery. Fourth ball, Afridi tosses it up and Kohli lifts it over long-off for a six. Nine runs off this over.

6th over: 36 for 1: Saeed Ajmal comes on to bowl and gets through a decent one, except for a four which Kohli rocks back to dispatch it through the covers. India are presently going steady, but Sehwag looks a bit slow on his feet. Six runs off this over.

5th over: 30 for 1: So far it has not been a fluent start for India, but not that bad also. Hasan has been spot on except for the fifth ball that Sehwag sweeps it for four in the fine-leg. Eight runs off this over.

4th over: 22 for 1: Umar Gul starts off with a boundary by feeding Sehwag in his hitting area. Sehwag needs to spend some time at the crease to get his touch back and again in the sixth ball he bludgeons Gul over the infield for a four through midwicket. 11 runs off this over.

3rd over: 11 for 1: Raza Hasan is bowling beautifully by varying his length and flighting the ball. He beats Kohli twice with his flight and loop. India need to be careful with his shot selection.

2nd over: 9 for 1: Wicket in the first over puts India on the back foot with Kohli and Sehwag playing cautiously. At the moment the ball is gripping off the pitch making stroke play difficult.

1st over: 6 for 1: Pakistan have got the kind of start they wanted and the young left-arm spinner Raza Hasan gives the breakthrough. Hasan gives some flight and Gambhir plays straight to the bowler for an easy catch.

Pakistan innings:

20th over: 128 all out: Pakistan fail to play the complete twenty overs as they struggle to a meagre total of 128. Balaji claims two back-to-back wickets to take his tally to three wickets. For Pakistan Shoaib Malik top scores with 28 runs, while Ashwin and Yuvraj chip in with two wickets each.

19th over: 122 for 8: Yuvraj shows his throwing skills, as he hits the stumps directly to run out Arafat. Seven runs off this over.

18th over: 115 for 7: An excellent over from Ashwin comes to an end. Ashwin bowls a touch short and Umar Akmal tries to clear over midwicket boundary but finds Raina manning the fence. One run and a wicket as Ashwin completes his spell with 2 for 16.

17th over: 114 for 6: New man Yasir Arafat walks out and Balaji looks to keep him at the batting end and bowls four dot balls, which are vital at this stage of the game. The fifth ball, Arafat gets frustrated and swings the bat for a top edge boundary. Just five runs off it.

16th over: 109 for 6: R Ashwin finally gives India the breakthrough they were looking for. Malik plays a uppish flick of a pitched up ball to midwicket where the fielder takes the catch at chest height.

15th over: 105 for 5: Runs have started to come for Pakistan as both the Pakistan batsmen decide to open up a bit. Balaji returns and in the fifth ball strays down to the pads and Malik glances it for a four in the fine-leg region. Eight off this over.

14th over: 94 for 5: Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik hold key to Pakistan's innings. Ashwin comes back into the attack and brings all his T20 experience into play by bowling in the right areas. Five runs off this over.

13th over: 92 for 5: India bring back Pathan into the attack and Akmal decides to cut loose. Fourth ball, Pathan bangs it short and Akmal dispatches it over midwicket for a big six. Again a good over come Pakistan's way with 12 runs. India somehow need to break this partnership to expose the tail.

12th over: 80 for 5: Finally a big over comes Pakistan's way. Kohli starts with a wide and in the next free-hit ball, Malik hits over covers for a four. Fourth ball, Kohli pitches it short and wide, Malik pierces it through the off-side field for a four. 15 runs off it.

11th over: 65 for 5: Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik are the last decent pair for Pakistan out there. Yuvraj into his third over and just concedes five runs.

10th over: 60 for 5: Pakistan are crumbling against Indian bowlers. Mohammad Hafeez fails to pick up the slower one from Kohli and drags onto the stumps. India now have Pakistan by the throat and can't relax against such an unpredictable side.

9th over: 56 for 4: It's turning out to be Yuvraj's day. First ball, he fires it in just outside off and gets a thin edge off Kamran Akmal where Dhoni again completes a brilliant catch.

8th over: 47 for 3: A surprise move from Dhoni with Kohli coming on to bowl. Hope he doesn't give too many runs, but with his wrong-footed action Kohli pull off a tidy over by giving only three runs.

7th over: 44 for 3: Now it will be all spin for India with Yuvraj Singh coming on to bowl. Yuvraj proves to be the man with the golden arm as he fires in a quicker one that gets an healthy inside edge off Nashir Jamshed and Dhoni completes a brilliant reflex catch.

6th over: 42 for 2: India not trying to play a waiting game here as they bring on their strike bowler R Ashwin and try to pick up quick wickets to put Pakistan in a a state of bother. Good start by Ashwin and he concedes just six runs.

5th over: 36 for 2: Dhoni brings on Balaji in first change and the medium-pacer is right on the money straightaway. What a start for Balaji, fourth ball of the over he digs it short and Afridi pulls it straight to the square-leg fielder for an easy catch.

4th over: 33 for 1: Pathan is mixing it up here with few slower ones and pitched up deliveries. But it would be interesting to watch, how long the Indians are going to keep Afridi silent? After the first two rusty overs, Indian pacers have bounced back. Five off this over.

3rd over: 28 for 1: Zaheer Khan after going for runs in his first over makes a great comeback and seems to have got his rhythm back. Three off it.

2nd over: 26 for 1: Irfan Pathan gets an inside edge off Nazir, which goes for a boundary. But Pathan comes back to trap Nazir infront of the stumps. Surprise move from Pakistan as Afridi walks out and slams Pathan for a four through long-on and again the sixth ball swivels it through covers.

1st over: 13 for 0: Zaheer Khan starts the proceedings for India and bowls a first ball wide. India can't afford to relax against both the Pakistan openers going by their form in this tournament. Third ball, Zaheer pitches a length ball and Imran Nazir slices through the covers for a four. Next one again goes for a bye boundary. Zaheer manages to induce an edge and Sehwag grasses it in the slips.

7:00pm: Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez wins the toss and opts to bat. India have made couple of changes, as Virender Sehwag and L Balaji return in place of Piyush Chawla and Harbhajan Singh. While Pakistan go in with an unchanged side.
