London: The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) will host a dinner at Lord's in remembrance of Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi on September 22, the day when the former India captain passed away last year due to a lung infection. The special sit-down evening will be held at Lord's famous Long Room.
The relationship between the MCC and the Nawabs of Pataudi goes back to the time of Pataudi senior, Iftikar Ali Khan Pataudi, who led India at Lord's in the 1932-33 Test series. Later, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, or Tiger as he was known to the cricketing world, famously captained India at Lord's in 1967.
The MCC commissioned The Pataudi Trophy in 2007.
