Indian cricket team's skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has sued the Zee media corp, IPS Sampath Kumar and News Nation for defamation and has approached the Madras High Court demanding a compensation of Rs. 100 crore.
Dhoni alleges the media house spread defamatory news about him related to the IPL betting scandal. The HC has restrained Zee TV from telecasting any news involving the India captain in the IPL case.
The judge has ordered interim stay of 2 weeks.
Dhoni leads the Chennai Super Kings franchise, which is owned by BCCI president N Srinivasan, in the IPL.
The franchise was caught in controversy during the sixth edition of the IPL last year when it's former Team Principal Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested for his involvement in betting on IPL matches, which was later proven.
