Ranji Trophy: Mum, TN dominate on Day 2

Mumbai: Hosts Mumbai took command against Assam by striking three crucial blows to reduce the visitors to 81 for three, on day two of their Group A Ranji Trophy match against Assam, here on Thursday.

Only 36 overs were possible despite play being stretched much beyond the scheduled time of close with opener Dheeraj Jadhav (25 batting,107b, 4x4) and Tarjinder Singh (4 batting) at the crease when stumps were drawn for the day.

Brief scores: Assam Ist innings 81-3 in 36 overs (D Jadhav 25 not out; Abhishek Nayar 2-17, A Agarkar 1-25).

Hosts Mumbai took command against Assam while Tamil Nadu's batsmen put their team in a strong position against Railways.

Delhi vs Saurashtra

Wet outfield and poor weather played spoilsport for the second consecutive in the Delhi-Saurashtra Ranji Trophy Super League group A match here on Thursday.

Not a single ball could be bowled in the tie due to rain on Wednesday as well.

Delhi, who drew their earlier three games are sitting at number four in the table with seven points.

Saurashtra are lying at the bottom with one defeat and two drawn games. They have two points so far.

Tamil Nadu vs Railways

With the monsoon weather playing truant making play possible for only eight overs yesterday, bad light forced the umpires to stop the play today after 79 overs.

Punjab vs Baroda

A solid batting display by Baroda enabled them to post a challenging first innings score of 416 against Punjab in their Ranji Trophy Super League Group B match here on Thursday.

Opener Conor Williams (75), Kedar Devdhar (65), Ambati Rayudu (79) and wicketkeeper-batsman Pinal Shah (63) slammed half centuries respectively as Baroda resuming at 94 for one added another 322 runs on the second day at the Moti Bagh ground here.

Brief Scores: Baroda first innings: 416 in 136.4 overs (Conor Williams 75, Kedar Devdhar 65, Ambati Rayudu 79, Pinal Shah 63; Sarabjit Ladda 5/118, Karan Goel 4/96).

Bengal vs Gujarat

Hosts Gujarat scored 162 for three against Bengal at stumps, on the second day in a Group A Super League match of the Ranji Trophy being held at the Sardar Patel Stadium, in Motera.

After the first day was a complete washout, only 52 overs were possible on the second day after Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary opted to bowl.
