Mumbai-Services 3rd day play washed out

New Delhi: The third day of the second Ranji Trophy semi-final between Mumbai and Services at Palam ground was completely washed out due to intermittent rain and wet outfield. It had rained heavily on Thursday night and drizzling continued, in spurts, on Friday morning due to which not a single ball was bowled.

Match referee B Kalyanasundaram called off the day at 12.15 p.m. when there was no improvement in light and the ground too had puddles everywhere.

Earlier, riding on skipper Ajit Agarkar (113*) and Aditya Tare's (108*) unbroken 211-run stand, the visitors had piled up 380 for 6 at the end of day two. The weather and poor light were deterrent even on the first two days which reduced the number of overs bowled to 78 and 65 on day one and day two respectively.

If the first innings of both teams are not completed in five days, the match can be stretched to the sixth day and if still the innings remain uncompleted, the toss will decide the outcome of the match. The weather on Saturday is expected to be relatively bright and the chances of rainfall are scant.
