Adelaide: South Australia's state government says it has no plans to change the name of the Adelaide Oval by selling naming rights to a corporate sponsor.

Stadium manager Ian Collins said the sale of naming rights could raise as much as $20 million over five years, helping to balance the books of the ground after the high cost of extensive redevelopments in recent years.

State treasurer Jack Snelling said this government believed the public would not support changing the name of the ground, which dates back to 1871.
