    Nothern Districts hires Gibbs, Hodge

Northern Districts will be the first New Zealand province to field three overseas stars in one season.

Wellington: South Africa's Herschelle Gibbs and Australians Brad Hodge and David Warner will play for Northern Districts province in New Zealand's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition this season.

Hodge will play only the first four rounds of the competition which runs from December 2 to January 3, Northern Districts said on Friday.

Warner will play from round three and Gibbs from the fourth round at the earliest after completing commitments to his South African side, the Cape Cobras.

Northern Districts, which last season employed Sri Lankan star Tillakaratne Dilshan, will be the first New Zealand province to field three overseas stars in one season.

Wellington province recently signed England batsman Luke Wright and is in negotiation with Australia fast bowler Brett Lee.
