PCB will be given a presentation on the proposed Pakistan Premier League at its meeting on Tuesday in Abbotabad.
Lahore: The Governing Board of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be given a presentation on the proposed Pakistan Premier League at its meeting on Tuesday in Abbotabad. A PCB official said Sarwar Salman Butt who was working as consultant for the Board would make the presentation.
The PCB has been talking about launching the PPL T20 competition since last year but recently admitted it could not be held before March next year due to a number of issues. "I think this time this presentation is very significant because it comes at a time when international cricket of sorts has been played in Karachi and those matches have definitely sent out a positive message to the rest of the cricketing world," the official said.
The PCB is planning to organise the PPL on the same lines as other foreign leagues on the format of selling franchises and inviting overseas players. "The PPL is definitely in the plans of the board next year and hopefully we should start working on the presentation very soon," he added. The Board's Governing board includes Presidents of the regional associations, representatives of the departments and former Test captains, Javed Miandad and Intikhab Alam besides the chief operating officer.
The official said that the board had been getting feedback from other boards on the proposed PPL. "We have taken some feedback because we want to know what the response will be from other boards and if they will allow their players to play in the league. We also have to see that the PPL doesn't clash with any other major FTP series or tour.
