Kolkata: Blaming the Wankhede Stadium’s ground staff for his team's defeat to Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, Rajasthan Royals’ wicketkeeper Shreevats Goswami on Thursday alleged that the track was changed without informing his team.
"They changed the wicket [at the last moment] without informing us," Goswami told the mediapersons on the eve of Rajasthan’s match against the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders. Goswami said the ground stuff at the Wankhede was rolling a different wicket, "which we were told would be used for the match".
However, Goswami claimed that the strip was changed before the game. "Rahul bhai [Dravid] opted to bowl without knowing that a different surface would be used," Goswami said after his team’s practice session at the Eden Gardens. Rajasthan lost the encounter by 27 runs as they were bowled out for 170 while chasing a daunting Mumbai’s total of 197.
