Ponting is dropped on 215

Ricky Ponting got another life after he duly crossed his double-century. On 215, with Australia's score at 494 for 4, danced down the wicket to the first ball of the 132nd over bowled by offspinner R Ashwin.

He proceeded to flick the flighted delivery in the air to midwicket, where VVS Laxman spilled an easy catch. He jumped up to take the offering but made a mess of it. Even after parrying it up in the air behind him, Laxman failed to take the catch.

It was Laxman's second major gaffe. On the first evening he had dropped Michael Clarke at second slip when the Australian captain was on 133. Clearly, nothing has been going right for Laxman.
