Dhaka: Duronto Rajshahi registered their first win in the inaugural Bangladesh Premier League beating Sylhet Royals by 16 runs at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.
The Rajshahi elected to bat in their third match and posted 171 for eight in their 20 overs. West Indies bat Marlon Samules top-scored with a 48-ball 72, while Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim and Pakistan's Abdul Razzaq chipped in with 33 and 30 respectively. Alok Kapali took three wickets for the Royals.
The Royals were in the chase for the most part of their innings but their inability to hit big shots at the death cost them the match. Kamran Akmal top-scored for them with 56 as they could only manage 155 for four.
For his match-defining innings, Samuels was adjudged the Man of the Match.
With the two points from the win, the Rajshahi now lie 5th in the 6-team tournament, while the Royals prop up the table with no win in three matches.
