Ranji Rd6 Day2: Jharkhand thrash Tripura

Agartala: A superb bowling by Shankar Rao (5 for 36) and Ajay Yadav (4 for 29) helped Jharkhand register a resounding seven-wicket win over Tripura to earn six points in a low-scoring Group C Ranji Trophy match on day two on Sunday.

For Jharkhand, Saurabh Tiwary top scored with 58 off 116 balls which included eight boundaries, while Ishank Jaggi chipped in with a valuable 72-ball 43. For Tripura, pacer Timir Chanda took 6 for 44 and young Manisankar Murasingh finished with four for 51.

In Porvorim, riding on two centuries by captain Soumik Chatterjee and Yashpal Singh, Services posted a massive 473 in their first innings and then reduced Goa to 64 for 1 on the second day. Having started the day on 284 for 4, overnight batsman Yashpal Singh, scored an unbeaten ton to take the team past 470-run mark. For Goa, Shadab Jakati was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 100.

In Guwahati, Himachal Pradesh were 62 for no loss in reply to Assam's 354 in their Group C Ranji Trophy match. Aakash Chopra was batting on 24 and Varun Sharma was unbeaten on 34 at the end of second day's play. For Assam, Pallavkumar top-scored with a 90-run knock, while Amit Sinha made 53. Rishi Dhawan was the pick of the bowlers for Himachal with figures of 4 for 60.

In Mallapuram, after bowling out Kerala for 163, J&K took an unassailable 115-run lead. At stumps, J&K were 68 for 3 with IR Singh (34) and MS Gupta (5) unbeaten at the crease. For Kerala, Sreejith took 2 for 32 while Prasanth claimed one.
