Kolkata: After put into bat, Gujarat got off to a jittery start but the knocks of Smit Patel (67) and Parthiv Patel (61) recovered the visitors against Bengal at the Eden Gardens.
The third wicket partnership of 95 runs between Smit and Parthiv revived Gujarat after losing two wickets in quick succession. Sourav Sarkar and Shami Ahmed did the initial damage to put Gujarat on the back foot before the stand gave some stability. Gujarat were 230 for 6 at stumps on day one with Smit (67) being the top scorer, while for Bengal Sarkar returned with figures of 3 for 57.

In Bhubaneswar, Railways are struggling at 193 for 7 at stumps on day one with Murali Kartik (21) and Krishnakant Upadhyay (32) still at the crease. Nitin Bhille was the top scorer for Railways with 41 runs off 100 balls, but for Punjab Manpreet Gony, Sandeep Sharma and Siddharth Kaul were the pick of the bowlers.

In Hyderabad, Saurashtra were reeling at 251 for 7 after electing to bat against Hyderabad. Sheldon Jackson's late surge of 67 helped Saurashtra to put up a decent total at the end of day's play. At the top Bhusan Chauhan and Jaydev Shah scored an identical 47, while Ashish Reddy returned with an impressive figures of 4 for 52.
