New Zealand reach 157-4 at stumps

Port Elizabeth: New Zealand were left facing another heavy defeat to South Africa as they reached 157-4 after following on in the second test at St. George's Park on Sunday, still trailing by 247 runs. Dean Brownlie and BJ Watling dug in to take the Black Caps to the close and limping into the fourth day, when South Africa need six wickets for a 2-0 series whitewash.

New Zealand were on the verge of successive innings defeats after their fragile batting again succumbed to South Africa's bowling unit in Port Elizabeth. Only wicketkeeper Watling came out with any credit as New Zealand were bowled out for 121 in their first innings following South Africa's 525-8 declared.

Watling was then 41 not out at stumps in a 73-run stand with Brownlie.
