Hobart: Play was abandoned without a ball being bowled on the second day of England's four-day tour match against Australia A in Hobart on Thursday.

Match umpires said play will start 30 minutes earlier on Friday's third day, although the weather forecast is for more rain.

The Bellerive Oval pitch was covered for virtually all of Thursday, denying the England batsmen valuable time in the middle to prepare for the opening Ashes Test against Australia in Brisbane on November 21.
