New Delhi: England batsman Owais Shah has been named as Shane Warne's replacement by the Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Warne who led the Royals in the first four seasons of IPL which included a tournament win in the inaugural edition in 2008, recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, but has participated in the Big Bash since then.
" We are delighted to have signed on Owais Shah to play for the Rajasthan Royals. He is one of the most exciting batsmen in the world and has been particularly outstanding in the shorter forms of the game,” Raghu Iyer, CEO, Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt Ltd, said.
Shah has represented the Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils and Kochi Tuskers Kerala, in previous seasons of the IPL.
