On a flat Adelaide Oval wicket, it took something spectacular from Peter Siddle to produce a nasty lifting delivery to dismiss Gautam Gambhir. That Siddle has been the most persistent bowler all series was not in doubt, but that he ran in and got the ball to rise so much from the surface was outstanding.
In the 34th over of India's innings, Siddle fashioned a sharp bouncer that spat up at Gambhir. Surprised that the wicket could produce such a delivery, a clueless Gambhir fended at the snorter and edged toward gully. An alert Michael Hussey ran in and timed his dive to perfection, plucking a tremendous catch an inch off the surface. Talk about team work. It was superb athleticism from bowler and fielder to unsettle Gambhir, who once again was in an awkward position against the short ball.
