London: England bowler Ryan Sidebottom will leave Nottinghamshire at the end of the season after failing to agree a new contract.

Sidebottom, 32, had turned down two offers of new deals from the English county and decided to quit Trent Bridge in search of a three-year contract.

"I didn't want to leave the club but this is the last contract I will sign as a professional cricketer and I wanted the security of a three year deal," Sidebottom said.

The England bowler had turned down two offers of new deals from the English county Nottinghamshire.

"I have had a truly fantastic time with Nottinghamshire but all good things come to an end at some time. We have had some great successes and I feel that during my time at Trent Bridge I have developed into a significantly improved player.

"I am disappointed to be leaving such a brilliant bunch of lads but there are exciting new challenges ahead."

Sidebottom has been at Nottinghamshire since 2004 when he left his native Yorkshire. He has played 22 Tests for England - most recently against South Africa in Johannesburg in January - and was a member of the side that won the World Twenty 20 in April.
