Pallekele, Sri Lanka: The Twenty20 international between Sri Lanka and New Zealand was abandoned because of rain at Pallekele International Stadium on Tuesday.
Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews won the toss and sent New Zealand in to bat, and the visitors scored 74-7 after the match was restricted to 14 overs. No. 9 batsman Tim Southee was the leading scorer for New Zealand with 21 not out after the visitors top order had failed.
Seamers Nuwan Kulasekera and Thisara Perera took two wickets each, and spinner Akila Dananjaya had the best figures of 2-9 for Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka made six runs in two overs when rain ended any chance of further play.
