South Africa rest Jacques Kallis for third ODI

Centurion: South Africa, who are leading the ODI series 2-0 have decided to rest Jacques Kallis for the third match, but a decision to sit out Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel is yet to be taken.

After making a comeback into the ODI fold, Kallis hasn't done that great but South Africa doesn't want to risk him with the two-match Test series against India starting next week.

However, the hosts are eying for a whitewash against the world No.1 team, which is preventing AB de Villiers and coach Russell Domingo from giving their strike bowlers a break. Moreover, an emphatic series win will fade away the scars of defeats against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

"It would be a great honour for us to beat India 3-0 here in South Africa," De Villiers said.

"But we are still a long way off from the perfect team that we want to be."

South Africa have retained the same 15-man squad that saved the series with Pakistan in October for the Test series.
