Spinner Lyon to take tips from Warne

Lyon will use a private meeting with Warne to fine-tune tactics ahead of the fourth Test.

Perth: The only struggling Australian bowler against a clueless Indian batting line-up, off-spinner Nathan Lyon is taking tips from spin legend Shane Warne to plot the downfall of Virender Sehwag and his men in the fourth and final Test in Adelaide starting on January 24.

Lyon, 24, will use a private meeting with Warne in Melbourne on Wednesday to fine-tune tactics ahead of the fourth Test that is vital to his progress as Australia's front-line off-spinner.

Australia's resurgent pace battery has crushed a star-studded Indian batting line-up, feasting on 57 wickets in the three Tests so far, but Lyon has contributed just two of them from the two matches he played.

Lyon got one wicket for 91 runs in the first Test in Melbourne while he returned with 1/89 in the second match in Sydney before being sidelined by an all-out pace attack that delivered Australia victory and the Border-Gavaskar trophy by an innings and 37 runs in Perth.

"It has probably been the biggest challenge of my life and something I have really taken on board," said Lyon of locking horns with India's spin masters, headed by Sachin Tendulkar.

"It will really make me a better player after all."

Warne first worked with Lyon during May 2010 at the National Centre of Excellence while the off-spinner was still toiling in Canberra grade cricket.

"I have a good feeling about the meeting. Hopefully I will be able to have a good chat with Shane about a few different things. I am looking forward to going up against the best in the world," Lyon was quoted as saying by Daily Telegraph.
