After steamrolling Bangladesh for their first major win over a Test-playing nation, giantkillers Afghanistan would look to continue their flirtation with cricketing history as they take on Sri Lanka.

Buoyed by their spirited effort of taming Bangladesh by 32 runs in their own den at Fatullah, the gutsy team from the strife-torn nation would be eyeing another major upset against Sri Lanka.

Man of the Match Kumar Sangakkara says that it was a tough wicket to bat on, the batsmen needed to get settled and then take on the bowling. Praises Mathews and Perera for their batting at the death. Adds that they have to still improve in a few areas. Mentions that he had to focus on the basics and lay the platform before he could launch.

Angelo Mathews says that it was a very important game for them as they needed a win to get to the final. Adds that Afghanistan had a good bowling attack and that it was tough to score runs on this wicket. Mentions that it was a collective effort, the bowling attack proved that it was world class with this performance.

Mohammad Nabi says that they bowled brilliantly in the first 35 overs. Sangakkara played really well. Adds that they played well in the first 10 overs while batting but then Perera and Mendis bowled splendidly. Mentions that they will try and do well against India.

Just when it looked it was going well for Afghanistan, they lost Stanikzai and that proved to be the turning point as Afghanistan lost wickets in a flurry. Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi tried their best but the pressure was always building and they couldn't get Afghanistan past the finish line. Thisara Perera was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers with three wickets.

A comfortable victory for Sri Lanka. They achieve a bonus point too and have qualified for the final. Sri Lanka did well to post a competitive total on the board after struggling early on. Sangakkara made a handy 76 while Mathews and Thisara Perera played breezy knocks at the death to power the Lions to 253. Chasing the target, Afghanistan lost Shahzad early but then Noor Ali and Stanikzai did well to rebuild the innings.
