Abu Dhabi: Pakistan will be looking for the perfect ending to their series against Sri Lanka when they clash with the islanders in the one-off Twenty 20 match at Abu Dhabi on Friday, having already beaten the Lankans 4-1 in the one-dayers after winning the Test series 1-0.
Earlier on Wednesday, captain Misbah-ul-Haq and Umar Akmal hit half-centuries after teammate Sohail Tanvir took four wickets to steer Pakistan to a three-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the fifth and final one-day international (ODI).
Misbah compiled a patient 66 while Akmal struck eight fours in an unbeaten 61 off 60 deliveries as Pakistan reached their victory target of 219-7 with 16 balls to spare at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Legspinner Jeevan Mendis was Sri Lanka's best bowler with 3-36, while seamer Dilhara Fernando took 2-47.
Left-arm paceman Tanvir took 4-34 to restrict Sri Lanka to 218-9 off 50 overs. But it could have been worse, with veteran Kumar Sangakkara top-scoring with 78 and Angelo Mathews contributing 61 to help them recover from 46-4.
Tanvir was supported by offspinners Saeed Ajmal (1-26) and Mohammad Hafeez (1-29), who both enjoyed miserly 10-over spells.
